Seagate Xbox storage expansion card reaches record low price

Amazon is offering significant discounts on Seagate's officially licensed storage expansion cards for Xbox Series X and Series S, with the 2TB model dropping to $230 from $260. This sale brings the price below $0.12 per GB, addressing the growing issue of large game file sizes on consoles with limited internal storage. The deal provides an easy way for players to expand their storage without hassle.

Gaming file sizes have ballooned in recent years, particularly for big-budget titles from Western AAA studios. For instance, Oblivion: Remastered exceeds 120GB, and upcoming releases like Grand Theft Auto VI are expected to demand even more space. The Xbox Series X includes only 1TB of internal storage, forcing players to frequently delete and reinstall games to manage space—a process that disrupts convenience.

Seagate's storage expansion cards, designed specifically for Xbox Series X and Series S, offer a straightforward solution. Currently, Amazon has three versions on sale. The 1TB model, normally $160, is now $149, a $11 reduction. The 2TB version sees a steeper cut from $260 to $230, saving $30 and hitting a new year record low of under $0.12 per GB.

These cards effectively double, triple, or even quintuple available storage, depending on the model chosen. Installation is simple: the drive plugs directly into a dedicated slot on the back of the console, requiring no tools—unlike the PS5, which demands opening the casing for SSD upgrades. Users can then choose to save new games to either internal storage or the expansion card.

A key advantage is compatibility with Xbox's Velocity Architecture, enabling full support for Quick Resume. This feature lets players suspend a game, switch to another—like jumping from a race in Forza Horizon 5 to a match in Rocket League—and resume seamlessly. Games on the Seagate drive perform identically to those on internal storage.

With major titles such as Grand Theft Auto VI and 007 First Light slated for release this year, expanding storage now makes sense for Xbox owners. The discounts are available for a limited time.
