The Senate is set to convene as an impeachment court at 3 p.m. today for the trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sen. Erwin Tulfo assured the public that the Senate minority bloc is ready for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte at 3 p.m. on Monday. “Yes, as far as I know, all of us are ready,” he said in an interview with radio dzBB.
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano sent a letter directing senators to wear their robes and be present in the session hall at 3 p.m. The convening comes days after a Senate reorganization that resulted in the ouster of former Senate President Vicente Sotto III on May 11.
Caritas Philippines and several bishops urged the Senate not to delay the proceedings to ensure justice. The trial is expected to address allegations of misuse of confidential funds and betrayal of public trust.
