Seven Brothers Brewing Co is closing its MediaCityUK beerhouse in Salford on March 15, 2026, as part of a strategic shift to focus on evolving customer preferences. The McAvoy brothers, who founded the brewery in 2014, cite changing drinking habits favoring larger, experience-led venues. Customers can continue visiting nearby sites like 11 Central.

Seven Brothers Brewing Co, founded in 2014 by the McAvoy brothers in Salford, has announced the closure of its MediaCityUK beerhouse overlooking the Blue Peter Garden. The venue, which opened in May 2021 as the world emerged from the Covid-19 pandemic, will serve its final customers on Sunday, March 15, 2026—Mothering Sunday—marking the end of an important chapter in the brewery's journey.

The decision reflects a strategic move to concentrate resources on venues that better align with shifting customer preferences, including a growing demand for larger social spaces offering live sport, entertainment, and activities like shuffleboard and interactive darts. Keith McAvoy, CEO of Seven Brothers, explained: "The way people socialise and drink has continued to evolve, with more customers looking for experience-led venues—whether that’s watching live sport, attending events or playing shuffle and darts. After reviewing our estate, we felt the MediaCity site was no longer the right fit for where we want to take the beerhouse side of the business."

The MediaCity site, one of the brewery's smaller locations, has hosted busy weekends, pre- and post-match drinks, and shared pints since its opening. McAvoy added: "This venue has been a huge part of our story... We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way—especially the amazing regulars who made it feel like home and the incredible team who have worked there from start to finish."

The brewery will redirect efforts to its nearby 11 Central venue, opposite the Kargo foodhall, which features event spaces for games, as well as the Quayside MediaCity Taproom and Ancoats Beer House on Cutting Room Square. This follows the closure of the Middlewood Locks beerhouse in January 2025. Despite these changes, Seven Brothers continues to expand, with its Easy IPA set to be stocked in 750 Wetherspoons sites across the UK by the end of spring.
