Sevilla fell 1-0 to Real Madrid in the penultimate LaLiga matchday but secured their top-flight status thanks to results elsewhere. Alexis Sánchez missed a clear chance created by Gabriel Suazo.
The match took place at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium. Real Madrid took the lead in the 15th minute through a Vinícius Júnior goal assisted by Kylian Mbappé. Sevilla applied pressure in the first half but could not equalize.
In the second half, Gabriel Suazo set up Alexis Sánchez at the 57-minute mark. The Chilean forward found himself alone in front of goal but his shot went wide. Sánchez came off the bench at the 52nd minute and created several chances.
Relegation was avoided away from Seville. Losses by Mallorca and Girona allowed the Andalusian side to stay up. The Chilean players celebrated survival after the final whistle.
