Sveriges første militære satellit sender billeder

Sveriges første militære satellit er begyndt at sende billeder fra rummet. Den blev opsendt den 3. maj og viser nu Gotland fra en højde på 515 kilometer.

Satellitten er fremstillet af det amerikanske firma Planet Labs og opsendt af SpaceX fra Californien sammen med to andre. Den nåede kredsløb for snart to uger siden og er nu begyndt at sende data hjem. Planet Labs deler i første omgang billederne og står for driften. Fuld kontrol vil senere blive overdraget til det svenske forsvar. Omkring ti yderligere militære satellitter er planlagt i de kommende år. Nogle vil komme fra Planet Labs og andre fra den finske producent ICEYE. Opsendelser fra Esrange i Kiruna er endnu ikke mulige.
