Designer Tarun Tahiliani is staging an immersive presentation called Navaratna at Bikaner House during India Couture Week on 26 July 2026. The event features 12 outfits moving through a central hall alongside nine galleries with more than 50 mannequins and multimedia installations.
Tahiliani, 64, has long favoured context and storytelling over conventional runways. Guests at the event can enter between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to view the outfits at their own pace amid installations that include rain sounds, percussion, and a gallery draped in beige flowers.
The designer described his approach in a phone interview days before the show. “There are just 12 outfits on the ramp,” he said. “This way you can take your own time and stand and stare at the detailing.” He added that his collections draw from Mughal clothing, miniature paintings and draped textiles, refracted through what he terms “India Modern”.
Tahiliani also discussed recent work on sculptural corsets and his ongoing emphasis on comfort and wearability. A fragrance line inspired by ginger lily and petrichor is scheduled for later in the year.
