Tennessee woman charged in child abuse case involving hot shower

A Memphis woman faces charges of child abuse and neglect after allegedly beating a child with a switch during a hot shower. The incident occurred on Thursday at a home in the city.

Deandra Bynum, 35, is being held at the Shelby County Sheriff's Office's Jail East facility on $10,000 bond. Officers with the Memphis Police Department responded to the residence following a report of abuse, according to an affidavit reviewed by authorities. Bynum allegedly struck a relative while the child was naked in the shower until the switch broke.
