Former Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier has asked a judge to ease restrictions on his bond. The conditions currently bar contact with the Charlotte Hornets and limit travel, which his attorney says blocks any chance of signing with an NBA team this summer.
Rozier, 32, faces federal charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and sports bribery tied to an illegal gambling operation. He was arrested in October and has pleaded not guilty. An arbitrator ruled this year that Rozier must forfeit most of his $26.6 million salary for the 2025-26 season because bond rules prevent him from performing contract duties. His attorney Jim Trusty argued in a court filing that the restrictions are unfairly punitive. The filing states that without changes, Rozier cannot participate in free agency, which begins June 30, or fulfill obligations to any team. Rozier is scheduled to return to court in Brooklyn on June 10. He last played for the Heat in the 2024-25 season, averaging 10.6 points per game.
