Tesla Cybertruck seized by police over safety concerns in UK

A Tesla Cybertruck was seized by Greater Manchester Police in the United Kingdom after officers stopped the vehicle last Thursday. The department cited legitimate concerns about the truck's safety in potential collisions with other road users or pedestrians.

Greater Manchester Police pulled over the pickup on UK roads. Officials stated that the vehicle is not road-legal in the country and lacks a certificate of conformity.

“The Tesla Cybertruck is not road-legal in the UK and does not hold a certificate of conformity,” police said. They added that while the action might seem trivial to some, concerns exist around safety if the truck were involved in a collision.

The Cybertruck, registered and insured abroad, was confiscated. A UK resident driver was reported to authorities. The vehicle's angular design and stainless steel exoskeleton with sharp edges violate UK and EU rules on pedestrian protection, preventing UK Type Approval.
