Tesla includes FSD in referral program

Tesla has updated its referral program to include Full Self-Driving (Supervised) demo drives. Referrers can now earn credits for inviting others to experience the feature. The change aims to boost adoption of the autonomous driving technology.

In a new email sent to customers, Tesla announced that Full Self-Driving (Supervised), or FSD, is now part of its Refer and Earn program. This update allows users to earn rewards by referring others to try the technology.

The email details the incentives: "Earn $15 in Tesla Credits when you refer anyone to experience Full Self-Driving (Supervised) during a demo drive.* And if they order a Tesla using your referral link, you’ll get $250 in Tesla Credits or $500 in Tesla Credits if they purchase their vehicle with Full Self-Driving (Supervised)."

This integration highlights Tesla's push to promote FSD, its advanced driver-assistance system, through customer referrals. The program previously focused on vehicle purchases, but adding FSD demos expands its scope to software features. No specific launch date for the email was mentioned, but the announcement aligns with ongoing efforts to increase FSD adoption amid regulatory and technical developments in autonomous driving.

Tesla's referral initiatives have been a key marketing tool, offering credits redeemable for services or accessories. By tying FSD to these rewards, the company encourages more hands-on experiences with the supervised autonomy feature, which requires driver attention but handles complex maneuvers.
