Tesla recalls 63,619 cybertrucks over bright parking lights

Tesla has initiated a recall of 63,619 Cybertruck vehicles from the 2024 to 2026 model years due to front parking lights that are too bright. The issue could impair visibility for oncoming drivers, potentially increasing accident risks. The company will address it through a free over-the-air software update.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall on October 15, 2025, under campaign number 25V699000. It affects Cybertrucks with operating software versions prior to 2025.38.3, where the vehicle controller allows the front parking lights to exceed maximum light output, violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108 on lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.

Tesla's response involves an over-the-air (OTA) software update provided free of charge to owners. Notification letters will be sent starting December 13, 2025, informing affected owners of the recall and remedy. Owners can install the update remotely without visiting a service center. For assistance, Tesla offers a customer service hotline at 1-877-798-3752.

No injuries or accidents have been reported related to the overly bright parking lights. The recall applies to vehicles in the United States and does not currently involve legal action, though such issues are monitored for potential class actions.

This marks another recall for the Cybertruck; earlier in March 2025, Tesla recalled over 46,000 vehicles due to concerns that an exterior trim panel could detach and pose a road hazard.
