Thailand's national team faces bad news ahead of the 2026 AFF Cup as star striker Patrik Gustavsson is confirmed absent for the first three matches.
Thailand's national team began its training camp on 14 July 2026. Of the 25 players called up by coach Anthony Hudson, only Patrik Gustavsson has yet to join.
The Football Association of Thailand said the 24-year-old striker still must fulfill obligations with his club BG Pathum United. Gustavsson is confirmed absent when Thailand travels to Laos on 25 July, hosts Malaysia, and travels to the Philippines.
The absence of Gustavsson is a major loss for the team's attack. Even so, Thailand remains a strong title favorite for the 2026 AFF Cup thanks to squad depth.
