Three PPP lawmakers booked for obstructing Yoon arrest

A special counsel team booked three opposition lawmakers Monday for allegedly blocking the 2025 detention attempt of former President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The lawmakers, Reps. Kim Ki-hyeon, Kwon Young-jin and Yoon Sang-hyun of the People Power Party, must appear for questioning or submit to a written investigation by Tuesday. They face suspicions of obstructing special official duties.

Assistant special counsel Kwon Young-bin said video footage showed some lawmakers blocking investigators at the presidential residence in January 2025. The three booked individuals actively claimed the warrant execution was illegal on social media and in press interviews.

One person testified to having their clothes torn, but no physical clash appeared to have occurred, according to the assistant special counsel.
