Tiny CM0IQ board runs Raspberry Pi CM0 module with HDMI and CSI

The CM0IQ is a compact carrier board measuring 42 by 36 millimeters, designed for the Raspberry Pi CM0 compute module. It provides key interfaces like HDMI and CSI in a minimal footprint. Priced at $49, the board is available from Makerfabs.

The CM0IQ carrier board, introduced in a project detailed on March 8, 2026, supports the Raspberry Pi/EDATEC CM0 compute module, which features a 1 GHz quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor and 512 MB of SDRAM. This module enables multimedia tasks such as 1080p30 H.264 encoding and decoding for video playback and basic processing.

Despite its small size, the CM0IQ exposes essential connectivity options. It includes a micro-HDMI connector for display output, along with four-lane MIPI-CSI for cameras and four-lane MIPI-DSI for additional displays. Power and data handling come via a USB-C connector, while a USB-A host port allows peripheral connections. Storage is supported through a microSD card slot, and wireless features an onboard Wi-Fi module with an external IPEX antenna connector.

For expansion, the board uses a 40-pin GPIO header with a 1.27 mm pitch, adhering to the standard Raspberry Pi pinout but with a smaller connector than the 2.54 mm version on boards like the Raspberry Pi Zero series. Compared to the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, the CM0IQ offers advantages such as four-lane CSI and DSI interfaces, a full-size USB-A host instead of micro-USB, and an external antenna option over an integrated PCB one.

Mechanically, it incorporates four M2 mounting standoffs for integration into embedded systems or enclosures. Documentation on GitHub covers configurations, including device tree overlays to enable DSI displays and CSI cameras.

The board is listed for $49 on the Makerfabs store, positioning it as an accessible option for compact Raspberry Pi projects.
