Tommee Profitt's Easter album set for March release

Music producer Tommee Profitt is releasing a new album that reimagines classic Christian hymns for Easter. Titled The Resurrection Of A King, it serves as a sequel to his earlier Christmas project. The album features collaborations with artists like Phil Wickham and CeCe Winans.

Tommee Profitt, known for his cinematic sound in music production, has announced The Resurrection Of A King, an album that breathes fresh life into traditional Christian hymns just in time for Easter. Profitt described the project as an Easter counterpart to his previous album, The Birth Of A King. "I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to make an Easter-equivalent to THE BIRTH OF A KING…but I didn’t know what the songs would be," he wrote on Facebook.

Unlike Christmas carols, there are no established Easter equivalents, so Profitt focused on reimagining hymns centered on themes of the cross and resurrection. The tracklist includes classics such as "Old Rugged Cross," "Blessed Assurance," "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today," and "How Great Thou Art." He aimed to keep them familiar where appropriate while innovating elsewhere, making them feel new and cinematic. "The essence of the Christmas album was taking something old and making it feel new, and fresh, and cinematic," Profitt explained.

The creative process began with selecting the songs, after which specific artists came to mind for each track. Collaborators include Phil Wickham, Ben Fuller, CeCe Winans, Crowder, Jamie MacDonald, and Jordan Smith. "Each arrangement was specifically leaned in and tailored to their individual voice, range, tone, and strength," Profitt said. He viewed the project as a calling: "I truly felt commissioned to make this album. Like it was a life purpose."

A single, "He Arose"—a reworking of the 1874 hymn "Up From The Grave He Arose" by Robert Lowry, featuring Phil Wickham—was released recently. Fans have praised it enthusiastically. One commented on Instagram: "This project carries a clarity and conviction that really stands out. Your dedication to creating meaningful work is evident in every detail👏" Another added: "I don’t get this excited very often but OH. MY. WORD!!!!! My favorite producer with my favorite artist/worship leader!! 🤯🙌"

The full album arrives on March 27, 2026.
