Trailer unveils Kakababu's treasure hunt in Vijaynagar'er Hirey

The makers of the upcoming Bengali adventure film Vijaynagar'er Hirey have released its trailer, building anticipation for the January 23 release. Starring Prosenjit Chatterjee as the detective Kakababu, the film follows a quest for a legendary diamond in the ruins of Hampi. Based on Sunil Gangopadhyay's popular series, it promises action, history, and suspense for audiences of all ages.

The two-minute trailer for Vijaynagar'er Hirey offers glimpses into a story rooted in the Kakababu series by Sunil Gangopadhyay, a collection of detective tales aimed at youngsters. Prosenjit Chatterjee reprises his role as Raja Roy Chowdhury, known as Kakababu, an archaeologist who thrives on adventure and crime-solving despite a physical handicap. In this fourth installment of the franchise, Kakababu teams up with his nephew Shantu, played by Aryann Bhowmik, and Shantu's friend Jojo, portrayed by Pushan Dasgupta.

The plot centers on a mission to Hampi, the ancient temple town in south India, to unravel the mystery of a lost diamond said to surpass the Kohinoor in size, brilliance, and value. This gem once belonged to the rulers of the Vijayanagar Empire. The trio encounters dangerous criminals, leading to intense action sequences involving physical confrontations and gunfire. Kakababu demonstrates sharp reflexes, pinning down attackers and using his revolver effectively.

Directed by Chandrasish Ray, the film features supporting roles by Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Satyam Bhattacharya, Rajnandini Paul, and Anujoy Chattopadhyay. Cinematographer Indranath Marick captures the majestic ruins of the Vijayanagar Empire, blending real locations to evoke a sense of magic and excitement. Indraadip Dasgupta's background score amplifies the mystery and thrill, with the setting, visuals, and sound contributing significantly to the narrative's mood.

Set against a backdrop of historical heritage, the story involves a hazardous treasure hunt and a race against smugglers to secure the diamond. The film is expected to succeed at the box office, following the pattern of previous Kakababu entries, and releases on January 23, just before the Republic Day weekend.
