The Washington Passport Agency began issuing limited-edition U.S. passports featuring President Trump on Monday. The commemorative documents mark the nation’s 250th anniversary and are available only at that location.
Applicants received the passports on the first day they were offered. One recipient, Jennifer Pham of Oklahoma City, expressed enthusiasm for her upcoming trip to Mexico.
“Trump is the president I love,” said Ms. Pham, 69. “I will leave this for my grandchildren and my great-grandchildren, and they will know that their grandmother loved this country.”
The White House has termed the documents “patriot passports.” About 40,000 will be issued at no extra cost while supplies last, according to the State Department. Each features a monochrome portrait of Mr. Trump with the Declaration of Independence behind him.
Standard passports continue to be issued at other agencies worldwide.
