Two Colombians captured with cocaine at Palmira airport

Colombia's National Police captured two Colombian citizens at Palmira's Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Valle del Cauca, seizing over 2.6 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride headed to Italy and Chile. The operations are part of routine checks to combat drug trafficking at air terminals.

On February 5, 2026, at Palmira's Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport, the Port and Airport Anti-Narcotics Company conducted inspections leading to the arrest of two individuals. In the first case, a Colombian woman was detained in the international departures area with 447.3 grams of cocaine hydrochloride hidden in her luggage as she prepared to fly to Bologna, Italy.

In the second incident, a Colombian man was apprehended during baggage checks, where 2 kilograms and 236 grams of the substance were found in a double-bottom compartment of his suitcase, destined for Santiago, Chile. The seizures totaled over 2.6 kilograms, impacting criminal finances by more than $80,677 and preventing the distribution of about 5,590 doses in international markets.

Brigadier General Sandra Liliana Rodríguez, commander of the Valle Police Department, highlighted that these successes stem from the ongoing efforts of police personnel through rigorous controls and intelligence work. 'These results are due to the permanent work of the men and women of the institution, who through rigorous controls and intelligence tasks continue to close the door to drug trafficking in the department's air terminals,' she stated.

The detainees were handed over to the Attorney General's Office to face charges for drug trafficking, manufacturing, or possession. The National Police reaffirms its commitment to enhancing measures at airports to counter illicit economies that threaten public safety.
