Just after 3:30 a.m. on Friday night, two taxi customers assaulted the driver in Borlänge and stole the taxi. The vehicle was found nearby shortly after, but the suspects had fled. Police have opened an investigation for aggravated theft of a motor vehicle.
The incident took place around Domnarvet/Hönsarvet in Borlänge. According to police, the two suspects assaulted the taxi driver before stealing the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The taxi was located nearby shortly afterward, but the perpetrators had already left. Police have seized the vehicle and interviewed the victim.
"The car was found not far from there," says Anders Dahlman, police spokesperson. "We have heard the victim and taken the vehicle into custody."
The two suspects are initially suspected of aggravated theft of a motor vehicle. A preliminary investigation is underway.
