Tyler Locklear homers as Diamondbacks defeat Cardinals

Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte was scratched from the lineup with back stiffness before Thursday's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis. Tyler Locklear took his place and hit his first home run of the season to help Arizona win 10-6.

The makeup game, originally rained out on June 25, took place at Busch Stadium. Locklear went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI single and a go-ahead two-run homer in the fourth inning. He drove in three runs total.

Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt allowed two runs in the first inning but settled in to pitch six innings. The Diamondbacks improved to 54-49 and moved one game ahead of the Pirates in the National League Wild Card race.

Marte has started 96 of the team's first 102 games this season and hit 18 home runs. The club said he last missed a start on June 3.
