UNAM suspends enrollment over 2026 admission exam anomalies

The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México temporarily suspended enrollment procedures for new undergraduate students while reviewing irregularities in the online admission exam.

The measure was announced after the UNAM detected conduct contrary to the call during the second day of the exam. Rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas ordered a technical report and formed a commission of specialists to analyze the platform and results.

Aspirants published the results on July 17, 2026 and denounced failures in artificial intelligence supervision, unjustified cancellations and an atypical rise in high scores. The institution confirmed the cancellation of 1,117 evaluations, equivalent to 2 percent of the total.

The peaceful march scheduled for Monday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. will depart from Universidad Metro station and Insurgentes Sur. Organizers demand a full audit, review of invalidated exams and a return to in-person exams.

The UNAM filed a criminal complaint on July 3 over possible fraudulent practices and said it will act according to university legislation to ensure transparency.
