Uppsala pubs join anti-drugs awareness week

Several pubs in Uppsala are participating this week in the national awareness week for Krogar mot Knark. They are working with the police and Uppsala municipality to create a safer nightlife free from drugs. The initiative bolsters crime prevention in pub environments.

Uppsala municipality reports that several pubs in the city are taking part in the national awareness week for the Krogar mot Knark network. The goal is to reduce drugs in pub settings and foster a safer nightlife. The pubs collaborate with police and the municipality via staff training, safe environment creation, and preventive measures against drug dealing and organized crime. Ida Lindman, Safety and Sustainability Director, states: «The work with Krogar mot Knark is an important part of the municipality's crime prevention efforts. By reducing the presence of drugs in our entertainment environments, we strengthen safety for both staff and guests. Reduced drug spread also counters organized crime.» The week features communication campaigns to raise awareness of drugs' impacts and ongoing initiatives. The network provides members with training and collaboration opportunities. Nils Kullman, First Curator at Stockholms nation, notes: «Membership in Krogar mot Knark helps our operations in many ways [...] communication between pubs becomes more effective, which in turn can give the municipality and police better insights into pubs' needs.» This effort forms part of the municipality's wider safety initiatives.
