Vellore man arrested in cyber slavery trafficking case

Police in Tamil Nadu arrested a 37-year-old man from Vellore district on charges of recruiting victims for cyber scam operations in Cambodia.

The State Cyber Crime Wing arrested Syed Hussain of Wallajah for his alleged role as a local facilitator in an international trafficking network. He is accused of targeting job seekers in Tamil Nadu with offers of overseas employment and arranging their travel to Cambodia via Malaysia and Thailand.

Investigators said Hussain coordinated with overseas handlers using WhatsApp calls and video calls. He helped one victim from Tirupathur district reach Chennai airport with flight tickets and onward connections to Bangkok.

Hussain reportedly received commission payments through bank transfers and digital platforms. The victim was later sent to a cyber scam compound in Cambodia, where Indian nationals were forced to carry out online fraud.

Digital evidence and financial records are under review as the investigation continues to trace other recruiters and victims.
