Vingegaard takes yellow after Visma win in Barcelona

Jonas Vingegaard became the first leader of the 2026 Tour de France after his Visma Lease a Bike team won the opening team time trial in Barcelona.

The Dutch team completed the nearly 20-kilometer course from the Fórum to Montjuic in 21 minutes and 47 seconds, at an average speed of 53.9 kilometers per hour. Vingegaard finished 12 seconds ahead of Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, who placed second with UAE Team Emirates.

Juan Ayuso took fourth place overall, close behind the leaders. The Spaniard praised his Lidl-Trek teammates despite some mechanical issues.

The stage marked Vingegaard's return to the top of the Tour three years after his last victory in 2023. The Dane credited his teammates' collective effort at the finish line.
