Viviana Jurado qualifies for Iberoamerican weightlifting tournament in Chile

Huilense weightlifter Viviana Jurado won gold in the 56 kg category at the IPL Regional Qualifying Championship in Pasto, Nariño, securing qualification for the Iberoamerican tournament in Santiago de Chile in October. The athlete from Isnos shared her joy and gratitude for the achievement. She also outlined her intensive preparation plan.

Viviana Jurado, an athlete from the municipality of Isnos in Huila department, secured the gold medal in the 56 kilogram category at the IPL Regional Qualifying Championship for weightlifting, held in Pasto, Nariño. This victory earned her qualification for the Iberoamerican Weightlifting Championship, scheduled for the first week of October in Santiago de Chile.

In an interview with La Nación, Jurado recounted her performance: “I had the opportunity to participate in the IPL Regional Qualifying Championship in Pasto, Nariño. I competed in the 56 kg category, obtaining first place, and with this I earned qualification for an international tournament in Chile that will take place the first week of October”.

The athlete, who also works as a teacher at an educational institution in Isnos, shared her emotions: “I feel very happy, proud, and grateful. It has been a process of much discipline, consistency, and sacrifice”.

For the international event, she plans a more rigorous preparation. “I will focus on improving my performance, taking much better care of my nutrition, rest, and technique. I will also work on the mental aspect, which is key in these types of competitions. The goal is to arrive in my best version to represent my municipality and my country well”, she stated.

Jurado thanked her family, her daughter, her coach Darío Melo, her gym, and the media outlet for their constant support throughout her sports journey.
