Wamuchomba criticizes Gachagua over insults and ear party

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has intensified her criticism of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party. She has vowed not to join the party, calling it the 'ear party'. She warns against emotional politics and threats.

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has intensified her criticism of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party, vowing openly that she will not join it. She used her social media to attack Gachagua and DCP, calling it the “ear party” due to its hand gesture pointing to the ear symbolizing the slogan ‘Skiza ground’.

She claimed that DCP members frequently blame leaders from the Mount Kenya region who refuse to join, calling them “fools” and “evil.” The MP recalled the situation before the 2022 election, when Mount Kenya leaders ignored former President Uhuru Kenyatta's warning against electing William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua. According to Wamuchomba, many ignored the warning and told Uhuru to complete his term and leave office. However, she claimed the warning has come true, citing tax burdens, business decline, building collapses, reduced tea bonuses, and youth deaths as consequences.

Responding to Gachagua's recent remarks about Kiambaa MP John Kawanjiku, who supported his campaigns and was elected in 2021, referring to him as “kagege,” Wamuchomba said instead of addressing Mount Kenya people's interests, like tea sector changes, Gachagua engages in insulting his unmarried children. “The anger squad has returned, insulting everyone who refuses to join the ‘Ear’ party. Emotional politics is dangerous,” she said.

Wamuchomba said she is called a bag for telling the truth to those in power, but emphasized she will continue speaking uncomfortable truths. She declared she will not support unclean leaders and will not join DCP without knowing what it stands for or out of fear. “I will not support a murderer, and I have been firm, but I will not join the ‘Ear’ party because of threats,” she added.
