Digital Extremes unveiled Warframe: Tau at TennoCon, introducing a new solar system inspired by Blade Runner and The Sopranos. The update focuses on themes of addiction through the ringed city of Fornax.
The reveal came at the end of this year's TennoCon Live event. A trailer showed the new Tau system after a fly-by of the Origin system, with gameplay set in Fornax featuring a detective Warframe named Brysko voiced by Matthew Mercer.
Creative director Rebecca Ford described the setting as drawing from Boardwalk Empire, Blade Runner, and a little The Sopranos. She noted the update will include two regions, new mission types, and a twist on the Steel Path mode when it launches later this year.
Ford also discussed the narrative focus on addiction and exploitation, drawing from real experiences of the development team in London, Ontario. Additional announcements at the event included the fall 2026 update Iceblade of Narin and new skins and reworks for existing Warframes.
