Warner Bros. Animation develops Dark Shadows reboot

Warner Bros. Animation announced plans for an adult animated reboot of the classic ABC soap opera Dark Shadows on Friday.

The new series will continue the saga of the Collins family. It blends Gothic, horror, and supernatural genres with the dark twists and romantic intrigue from the original run.

The show ran for more than 1,200 episodes on ABC from 1966 to 1971. Previous attempts at revivals include a 1991 NBC remake and a scrapped 2019 project for The CW.

No network has been attached to the reboot yet, though it could air on Adult Swim or HBO Max. A 2012 feature film version starred Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins.
