Former Xinjiang Communist Party chief Ma Xingrui is under investigation for “serious violations of discipline and law”, state news agency Xinhua reported. He is the third member of China’s Politburo probed in the current term that began in 2022, a situation unseen in decades. The Politburo is now down to 21 members.

China's 22.13km Tianshan Shengli Tunnel in Xinjiang opened on Friday, slashing the drive through the Tianshan Mountains to 20 minutes.
