24-year-old charged with homicide in Nashville shooting of 12-year-old

A planned fight in Nashville ended in tragedy when a 24-year-old man allegedly shot and killed a 12-year-old boy who was running away. Devin Orr faces a charge of criminal homicide in the death of Damarion Morehead.

The incident occurred during a brawl involving six or seven people in a courtyard, according to police. The fight stemmed from a dispute over a female, and participants had been punching and kicking Orr before he drew a gun.

Orr fired two shots, one of which struck Damarion in the head. The boy was taken to a hospital but did not survive. His great-grandmother, Nancy Givans, expressed shock at the involvement of an adult in the altercation.

Orr was arrested on Monday morning and remains in the Davidson County Jail without bond. He reportedly told investigators that he discarded the weapon in a sewer on Charlotte Pike. His court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
