Flames rally from early deficit to beat Panthers 5-3

The Calgary Flames overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat the Florida Panthers 5-3 at Amerant Bank Arena on November 28, 2025. Devin Cooley made 37 saves for the Flames, who won for the fourth time in their last five games. Yan Kuznetsov scored his first NHL goal in the victory.

The Florida Panthers jumped out to a quick lead at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Evan Rodrigues scored 54 seconds into the game on a rush after intercepting a Jonathan Huberdeau turnover, with Sam Reinhart assisting. Sam Bennett made it 2-0 at 2:58 on an odd-man rush set up by A.J. Greer.

The Flames responded in the first period. Yan Kuznetsov netted his first career NHL goal at 5:35 with a wrist shot that went through Seth Jones' legs and past Daniil Tarasov. Mackenzie Weegar tied the game 2-2 at 10:41 with a slapshot from the point.

Calgary took control in the second period. Morgan Frost scored on a two-man advantage 55 seconds in, banging home a rebound from Rasmus Andersson's shot to make it 3-2. Nazem Kadri extended the lead to 4-2 at 18:44, deflecting another Andersson shot and ending his 10-game goalless streak. Kadri finished with a goal and two assists.

The Panthers pulled within one at 11:54 of the third when Brad Marchand scored on the rush with Tarasov pulled for an extra attacker. Joel Farabee sealed the 5-3 win with an empty-net goal at 18:57, his 100th career NHL goal. Cooley stopped 37 of 39 shots, while Tarasov made 29 saves.

The Flames improved to 9-14-3, while the Panthers fell to 12-11-1, losing three of their last four. Calgary faces the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, and Florida hosts the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
