Former WWE executive recalls CM Punk pipe bomb promo

John Laurinaitis, former WWE Head of Talent Relations, discussed the backstage reaction to CM Punk's 2011 pipe bomb promo during a recent signing event. He stated that he, Vince McMahon and producers were not nervous but held discussions afterward.

During a live in-studio signing for Signed By Superstars streamed to Facebook, Laurinaitis answered fan questions while autographing photos. A fan inquired about the atmosphere following the promo on WWE Raw.

Laurinaitis said conversations took place about preventing similar incidents. "There [were] discussions about what happened and how [we] could not have stuff like that happen going forward," he said.

The promo referenced Laurinaitis as a "glad-handing, nonsensical, d*****bag yes-man." He later appeared on-screen, attempted to recreate the Montreal Screwjob at Money in the Bank and was named Raw General Manager in October.
