Indiana's Tucker DeVries named co-Big Ten player of the week

Indiana redshirt senior forward Tucker DeVries was named co-Big Ten Player of the Week after strong performances in the Hoosiers' opening wins. He shared the honor with Ohio State guard Bruce Thornton, marking the first such recognition for an IU player since Trayce Jackson-Davis in 2023. DeVries averaged 22.5 points and 8.0 rebounds across victories over Alabama A&M and Marquette.

Indiana basketball forward Tucker DeVries earned co-Big Ten Player of the Week honors on Monday, the conference announced. DeVries, a two-time Missouri Valley Player of the Year, shared the award with Ohio State senior guard Bruce Thornton. This is the first time an IU men's basketball player has received the accolade since Trayce Jackson-Davis on March 6, 2023.

In Indiana's season-opening 98-51 win over Alabama A&M, DeVries recorded an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double. He became the first Hoosier since Devonte' Green on March 23, 2019, to tally at least 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four made 3-pointers in a game. DeVries also surpassed 2,000 career points, joining the elite 2k club as the only active NCAA Division I men's player to do so.

Against Marquette in a 100-77 victory at the United Center in Chicago, DeVries scored a game-high 27 points—24 in the first half—along with six rebounds. He earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the Waterkeeper Alliance Invitational, knocking down six of Indiana's 14 made 3-pointers, the most by the Hoosiers since a win at Iowa on February 17, 2018.

Overall, DeVries averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steal per game, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor (16-of-28) and 58.8 percent from beyond the arc (10-of-17).

Under first-year coach Darian DeVries, Indiana has started 2-0 and received 45 votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll, placing them effectively at No. 28. The Hoosiers improved to No. 21 in KenPom rankings. They return to action Wednesday against Milwaukee at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
