KTM develops new 790 Adventure model amid past issues

Photos of a new KTM 790 Adventure model have begun circulating online. The bike is expected to be revealed at the EICMA show in Milan this fall and could reach the US market.

The new model follows years of reported problems with the original 790 Adventure, including premature camshaft wear and other top-end issues in the LC8c engine. KTM later introduced 890 and 901 versions of the engine and offered an extended four-year warranty on affected models.

Spy shots suggest the upcoming 790 Adventure will include changes similar to those on the new 790 Duke, such as updated ergonomics, brakes, and a different gas tank. The Duke retains the 799 cc LC8c parallel-twin engine rated at 105 hp.

The previous 790 model remains unavailable in the US, likely due to tariffs on its Chinese production. KTM is expected to complete environmental certification for the new version before offering it Stateside. Husqvarna models using the same engine design have faced similar complaints.
