Matias Mäntykivi verlässt seinen finnischen Verein Ilves, nachdem er eine vertragliche Option für einen Wechsel ins Ausland gezogen hat. Der 24-jährige Stürmer wird mit einem Wechsel zum schwedischen SHL-Club Växjö Lakers für die kommende Saison in Verbindung gebracht.

Ilves gab bekannt, dass Mäntykivi die Klausel genutzt hat, die ihm einen Abschied nach Saisonende ermöglicht. Der Verein teilte mit, dass sein Vertrag für die nächste Spielzeit eine Option für einen Wechsel ins Ausland enthielt, von der er Gebrauch gemacht hat.
