Pure Padel has submitted plans to convert an empty warehouse in Coulsdon into a premium indoor padel club with six courts. The facility, if approved, would include a café, licensed bar, and co-working lounge, marking the company's first venture into the London region. Croydon Council is expected to decide on the application in February 2026.

Pure Padel eyes expansion with Coulsdon indoor club

One of the UK's fastest-growing padel operators, Pure Padel, has lodged a planning application with Croydon Council to transform an empty warehouse on Brighton Road in Coulsdon into a premium indoor padel facility. The proposal, submitted in December 2025, outlines six courts alongside a café, licensed bar, pro shop, social spaces, changing facilities, and a co-working business lounge. This would create a modern hub for sport, community, and work in the London Borough of Croydon, just minutes from Surrey.

Sammy Arora, founder and managing director of Pure Padel, expressed enthusiasm for the project. "We’re incredibly excited about bringing Pure Padel to Coulsdon," he said. "This will be our first club in the London region and a really important step in building our presence across the South East, especially alongside our Lightwater club in Surrey. The accessibility of this site is exceptional, and there’s a clear shortage of high-quality indoor padel facilities in the area."

If approved, construction is slated to begin in April 2026 and complete by the end of June, allowing an opening this summer. The site's location enhances its appeal: it's a 10-minute walk from Coulsdon South station, with direct trains to London Victoria and King's Cross St Pancras. Drivers can access 16 parking spaces, and it's a 15-minute drive from Surrey towns like Caterham and Warlingham.

Pure Padel operates on a pay-to-play model via the Playtomic app, with no membership fees and qualified coaches available. The company launched its first club in Alderley Park in 2023 and now has sites in Manchester, Darlington, Stockport, North Leeds, and Nottingham. Construction is underway in Lightwater (opening March 2026), Solihull, and Glasgow, with further plans in Birmingham, Gosforth, York, and Royal Wootton Bassett.

The application has garnered 30 supportive comments and no objections as of January 19, 2026. It aligns with growing interest in padel, a tennis-squash hybrid, including Surrey's largest centre under construction at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford by Padelstars.
