Trade proposal sends Anthony Davis to Chicago Bulls

A new trade proposal suggests sending Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis to his hometown Chicago Bulls. The deal, outlined by Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, would see the Bulls acquire Davis in exchange for Coby White, Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, a protected 2030 first-round pick and a 2031 pick swap. Dallas, struggling at 6-15, is exploring options after firing GM Nico Harrison.

The proposed trade comes amid speculation about Davis's future with the Mavericks. As a Chicago native without a no-trade clause, Davis could return home, potentially pairing with Nikola Vucevic to bolster the Bulls' frontcourt. Buckley highlighted the narrative appeal, writing, “Returning to his hometown of Chicago would be both a fun narrative and maybe a better basketball story.” He also noted Davis's potential impact on young talents like Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis.

The Bulls, currently 9-10, seek a franchise anchor, while Dallas weighs pivoting from its poor start. Davis, earning $54.1 million this season with a $62.8 million player option in 2027-28, has been limited by injuries. Since joining the Mavericks in a blockbuster deal involving Luka Doncic, he has appeared in just 15 games overall, including only six this year due to a calf issue.

In Dallas, Davis averages 19.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game. Interested teams, per reports, want him to improve his conditioning and mobility. His career marks 24.1 points and 10.7 rebounds across stints in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Dallas. The Mavericks plan to consult Davis's camp, led by agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, on any in-season move.
