Regionalist deputy Francisco Javier López Marcano, right-hand man of Miguel Ángel Revilla for four decades, died on April 2, 2026, in Torrelavega at age 71 from a heart attack. Marcano served as former counselor in the Cantabria government, former mayor of Torrelavega, and key leader of the Partido Regionalista de Cantabria (PRC). The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that over 70,000 examinees passed the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) held on September 21 and November 30. At the elementary level, 21,967 out of 43,035 passed, while 57,729 out of 79,493 succeeded at the secondary level.
