The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics tennis events will run from July 19 to July 28, starting just days after Wimbledon concludes on July 16. Players reaching the later stages of the Championships will have only three days to travel across continents and adjust to hard courts at the Carson Tennis Center. The schedule has renewed concerns over the demanding tennis calendar.
The Olympics tennis competition begins with mixed doubles on July 19, followed by singles on July 20 and men's and women's doubles on July 21. Wimbledon 2028 ends on July 16, leaving a short window for recovery, travel and surface adaptation from grass to hard courts.
Players face 20 ATP or 21 WTA mandatory events annually, with penalties for non-compliance. Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek raised concerns earlier this year about the need for rest to avoid injuries.
The single surface change offers some relief compared to 2024, when multiple switches contributed to withdrawals by Jannik Sinner and Sabalenka, as well as early exits for Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic after the Paris Games.
Should the dates remain unchanged, athletes may again weigh participation in the Olympics against managing their season workload.
