AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio vacated the Latin American Championship on the latest episode of WWE AAA on Fox following an injury to champion El Hijo del Vikingo.
On the July 11 episode, Rey Mysterio declared the title vacant after former champion El Hijo del Vikingo suffered an injury last Tuesday while preparing for a match against EK Prosper on NXT.
Dorian Roldan had planned to transfer the belt to fellow El Ojo member Omos, but Mysterio intervened in the ring and forced Omos to return the title before officially vacating it. Mysterio announced he will reveal next week how the new champion will be determined.
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest appeared in a video message claiming a shot at the vacant title. The WWE AAA Verano de Escandalo event is scheduled for July 25.
