New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge said Friday that recent imaging shows signs of healing in his fractured right rib, though he remains sidelined and has not been cleared for baseball activities.
Judge underwent the re-imaging during the All-Star break after sustaining the injury in late April. He has not played since May 31.
"There's some progress, some healing going on, but it's not fully healed," Judge said at Yankee Stadium. The team is awaiting input from specialist Dr. Gregory Pearl.
The Yankees expect Judge to return during the regular season, with mid-to-late August viewed as a best-case scenario. Judge expressed confidence, stating he sees no reason he would not play again this year.
Judge has been limited to lower-body work during recovery. He is batting .248 with 17 home runs in 59 games this season.
