Abelardo de la Espriella won Colombia's presidential runoff on June 21, 2026, securing 49.65% of the vote against Iván Cepeda Castro.
De la Espriella received 12,941,992 votes with 99.84% of tables reported, defeating his rival by 247,129 ballots. Voter turnout reached 63.42%, the highest in recent history.
The 47-year-old lawyer and businessman becomes the first president without prior elected office experience. He will take office on August 7 for the 2026-2030 term.
His campaign focused on security and public order, including strengthening the security forces and building mega-prisons. The voting day proceeded normally, according to electoral authorities.
