Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) launched the Addis Mesob transformative digital government service today at the invitation of Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie. The service, deployed on mobile autobuses, brings government services directly to citizens rather than requiring them to visit centers.
On Miyazya 14, 2018 (EFM SI), Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) launched the service at a social media event hosted by Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie. The mayor stated, “This service not only requires citizens to go to service centers but creates an opportunity for the service itself to reach the people.”
The transformative autobuses feature service delivery operations, solar power, MPLS network access, camera surveillance, and a fully operational pilot service. Available services include revenue collection (new TIN issuance), business licenses, health checks for employment, civil registration (birth and death), driver's licenses (employment permits and plate issuance), Ethio Post road fund payments, national ID registration and updates, and Ethiopian Electric pre-payments.
Prime Minister Abiy said, “We will continue our work to make integrated services more accessible.” Minister of Planning and Development Fissum Assefa (Dr.) highlighted the service in the Digital Ethiopia Initiative, noting it improves quality, speed, and saves time and costs for citizens.
