On November 19, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios announced a series order for a new installment in the Stargate universe, set to stream on Prime Video. This marks one of the first major greenlights under the studio's recent leadership changes, following Amazon's 2022 acquisition of MGM. The project revives the military sci-fi franchise, which originated with Roland Emmerich's 1994 film starring Kurt Russell and James Spader.
Creative Team
Martin Gero, known for creating NBC's Blindspot and serving as showrunner on Quantum Leap, brings deep ties to Stargate. He worked as a story editor on Stargate: Atlantis and contributed to SG-1 and Universe. Gero expressed his excitement in a statement: "Twenty years ago, my first real job in television was as a Story Editor on Stargate: Atlantis. I spent five years at the franchise working across all three series, Stargate taught me everything about making television—it's written into my DNA. Executive producers include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters), alongside original film co-writers Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi, key figures from the TV series, will consult as producers.
