American Airlines adds nonstop flights from Philadelphia to Santiago

American Airlines has announced new nonstop service from Philadelphia to Santiago in the Dominican Republic, starting May 21, 2026. The flights will operate four times a week, marking the first such direct connection since 2022. The airline is also expanding its service to Santo Domingo earlier than planned.

American Airlines revealed plans to introduce nonstop flights from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Santiago, Dominican Republic (STI), beginning May 21, 2026. The service will run four times weekly, providing travelers with direct access to the destination for the first time since 2022.

In addition, American Airlines is enhancing its routes to Santo Domingo (SDQ) by restarting daily seasonal flights in May, a month ahead of the previous schedule. This expansion underscores the airline's commitment to bolstering international options from Philadelphia, which it calls its hometown hub.

"As Philadelphia's Hometown Airline, we take pride in the robust international service we provide for PHL customers to popular destinations around the world— and we know the Caribbean is a sought-after getaway for summer vacation," said American Airlines Vice President of PHL Operations Lakshman Amaranayaka. "We look forward to serving our customers this summer, whether they plan to take advantage of the world-class beaches, culture and adventure of the Dominican Republic or any of the 120 destinations we offer direct from PHL."

Tickets for both the new Santiago route and the expanded Santo Domingo service are now available for purchase on aa.com. The announcements come amid American Airlines' efforts to strengthen its network in the Caribbean region, catering to demand for tropical escapes.
