Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday evening.
Arsenal had already done their part the previous evening with a 1-0 win at home against Burnley that left them five points clear with two matches remaining. That result put heavy pressure on Manchester City, who needed to win away at Bournemouth.
City, fresh off an FA Cup win, struggled and fell behind after Junior Kroupi gave Bournemouth the lead. Erling Haaland equalised late but it was too late for the champions.
Arsenal finish with 82 points and Manchester City on 78. Viktor Gyökeres scored 14 of Arsenal’s 69 league goals and becomes the first Swede since 2007 to contribute to a Premier League title.
In eleven days Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest.
