AV Linux and MX Moksha receive package updates in version 25.1

The maintainer of AV Linux and its variant MX Moksha has released version 25.1, focusing on software maintenance and updates. This refresh synchronizes the distributions with recent Debian and MX Linux versions. The updates include kernel enhancements and desktop-specific improvements without introducing new operating system versions.

Glen MacArthur, known by the nickname Gmaq, has issued version 25.1 of AV Linux (AVL) and MX Moksha (MXM), two Linux distributions geared toward multimedia and entertainment use. According to the release announcement, these updates center on refreshing ISO images with the latest packages, bug fixes, and repository synchronization rather than overhauling the core systems.

The distributions now align with Debian Trixie 13.3 and MX Linux 25.1. Key technical updates include the Liquorix kernel, optimized for low latencies, now at version 6.18.13. MacArthur enabled the "threadirqs" feature in this kernel. Additionally, the Cable-PipeWire frontend reaches version 0.9.28, and a new file action allows direct playback of DVD ISO files using MPV.

For AV Linux, which employs the Enlightenment desktop, changes involve tweaks to the default "Ease" theme and the addition of new wallpapers. As a digital audio workstation, it incorporates Ardour at nightly build version 9.2.18, alongside updates to the Noise-Repellent and Drumlabooh plugins.

MX Moksha features the Moksha desktop from the Bodhi Linux project at version 0.4.2. Contributors have ported the Enlightenment screenshot module to Moksha, and GTK4 theme colors for Gnome applications have seen improvements.

Development on these distributions, based on MX Linux and Debian 13 (Trixie), resumed in November of the previous year with the initial version 25 release. MacArthur provides the updated ISOs on dedicated download pages and solicits donations to cover hosting, testing hardware, and development time costs.
