Bahia defeats Sport 2-0 in Brazilian Championship

Bahia secured a 2-0 victory over Sport on Wednesday at Arena Fonte Nova in the 37th round of the Brazilian Championship. Goals came from Rodrigo Nestor and Luciano Juba, one in each half. The win lifts the Bahia team to sixth place in the standings.

The match took place at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador, where Bahia showed dominance from the start. In the first half, the Tricolor side pressed hard, generating several dangerous chances after 16 shots on goal. At the 40th minute, Ademir advanced down the right flank, reached the byline, and crossed to Rodrigo Nestor, who spun and struck accurately to open the scoring.

Still in the opening period, Ademir was fouled in the penalty area, earning Bahia a spot kick. Willian José took the shot, but goalkeeper Caique saved the low drive, keeping the score at 1-0. In the second half, Bahia extended their lead early. At the 10th minute, Everton Ribeiro won possession in midfield and fed Luciano Juba, who unleashed a powerful long-range shot for the second goal.

This win gives Bahia 60 points, propelling them to sixth in the Brasileirão table. Sport, already relegated to Série B, stays on 17 points. The outcome highlights Bahia's control over the Pernambucan side, which posed little threat to the hosts' defense.

In the final round, Bahia will play Fluminense at the Maracanã, while Sport hosts Grêmio at Ilha do Retiro.
