The BJP Central Election Committee held a meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence on 1 June 2026. The meeting discussed strategy for Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections.
The meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence lasted about two hours and included party president Nitin Navin, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BL Santosh among others.
According to sources the meeting covered strategy for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states and Legislative Council elections in states including Maharashtra. PM Modi suggested states review their preparations.
After the meeting the BJP released its first list of candidates for the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections 2026. It includes 10 candidates such as Arun Lakhani from Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli.
Organisational restructuring was also discussed with the possibility of a new team being formed next week.
