Bonnie Tyler is no longer in a coma following emergency intestinal surgery, her family said. All of her summer tour dates have been canceled or postponed.
Tyler remains in intensive care at a hospital in Portugal and is described as still very unwell. Her family issued a statement on June 15 noting that while her condition is improving, recovery will be slow.
Doctors expect a good outcome but have indicated it will take time. The family canceled or postponed all shows through August, with some rescheduled for next year if possible.
The statement expressed hope that Tyler could return to performing this fall. She is best known for her hit Total Eclipse of the Heart and was preparing a European tour marking 50 years in music.
The family apologized to fans and promoters and thanked supporters worldwide for their messages.
